VAGABOND: Dioon Hologram Oxford

Hellooooo lovelies!!! So I had a few Urban Outfitters gift cards left over from my birthday and Christmas, and I decided to buy something nice online just for the fun of it (because otherwise, I was gonna spend it on vinyl and stupid party stuff).

These shoes were on sale, so even thought they were still pretty expensive ($80) I decided to splurge. I got $15 off and free shipping, so it wasn't that bad! I mean, I didn't actually spend my money on these. It was gift cards.

I got them in the mail yesterday and they are SOOOOOO cute. I was so happy. I'm going to wear them to perform at my school's Coffee House tomorrow night! My mom said they looked "disco" ... thanks mom. But they're super comfortable and fit me perfectly. So excited to finally have a pair of Vagabonds!

Hellooooo lovelies! On Saturday, I spent the day in Los Angeles reuniting with friends and exploring Melrose Avenue. First, we went to Alfred Coffee (on Melrose Place) which was unbelievably delicious - I recommend the Chai Latte. They had walls which reminded me of Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires of the City.

Snapchat art at its finest.

Right outside of Alfred there were a bunch of posters promoting the Alexa Chung collaboration with AG Denim. I had to take a picture. She is my idol.

Now, I must admit, I am the poster child for the aim of this kind of advertising. Shortly after seeing this poster, my friends and I made it down Melrose to Fred Segal, where I invested (with my Christmas money - shout out to all of my family members!!) in a skirt from Alexa's line.

Here's me sitting on the steps of Urban Outfitters with my new favorite item of clothing, wearing Dr. Martens, Motel dress, socks from Amazon, and my vintage Coach bag. Xoxo, Gossip Girl.

DIY: The Vaccines Baseball Jacket (Handsome Music Video)

Hellooooo lovelies! So The Vaccines (one of my all time favorite bands) came out with their new video for "Handsome," which is gonna be a track off their new album this year. I'm so excited.

In the video, the band wears these cool baseball jackets that look like the ones I saw in Tokyo and Kyoto last Spring. So I decided to make my own.

I bought the jacket from American Apparel (it's a red satin baseball jacket, basically), and then I used felt from Michael's for the cut-out the letters. I sewed each of them on with a sewing machine (which took forever).

Shoes: Dr. Martens

MALIBU: Ask Me How Deep The Ocean Is

Hello lovelies! After finishing our final exams this past Friday, my best friends and I drove down to the beach (ah, how nice is it to have a driver's license) to swim and stay for the sunset. We ended searching for a different place to watch the sunset as we weren't sure if we could park at the beach we were originally at, so we ended up at a small beach near some apartments. The sunset was unbelievable, and the reflection off the water looked beautiful. We took photos, of course.

And the namesake of this post: this photo reminded me of the last scene of my favorite movie ever (which contains the quote "Ask me how deep the ocean is"), Submarine. It's on Netflix, so if you haven't watched it yet, you definitely should.

LA WEEKEND: Korean food, Pink's Hot Dogs, Free City Supershop, IKEA

Hello lovelies!! I recently finished my first semester final exams (yay!), and so I spent the three-day weekend (today was Martin Luther King Jr. day) relaxing and spending time exploring my city. I've made it a goal recently to visit places in Los Angeles that I've never been to, as I have less than two years left here (College, ahhh!).

I ate Korean food for the first time, which was not really very different from what I suspected. I got noodles and dumplings from a booth at the Farmer's Market next to Space 15 Twenty - not really sure what it's called.

I sat on some steps and ate my food while a little coffee stand behind me played Arctic Monkeys on shuffle. It was a lovely lunch.

I also went to IKEA in Burbank, which is basically like Disneyland to me. I love walking through all of the fake rooms and looking at the Swedish books that are in all of the bookshelves. It amazes me.
I also recently discovered IKEA sells fabric (meant for interior decorating), so I bought a yard of two super cool prints to make dresses, skirts, etc. So if you see a girl on the streets of Los Angeles that matches your pillows and bed spread - that's me!

After driving past it countless times, I visited the Free City Supershop near The Grove. I loved their store that used to be in Malibu; all of the decorations in-store were so cool and I always thought the art on their (overpriced) sweatshirts was awesome. I bought a pair of socks because they were relatively cheap and adorable... they also gave me a free loaf of bread with my sock purchase. Why? I couldn't tell you. But it was delicious.

I finally got to try one of the legendary hot dogs at Pink's. My mom took me. It was delicious. I took this photo of my outfit while waiting in line (it was worth it).

Shoes: Dr. Martens
Dress: American Apparel
Bag: Vintage (Coach)

Hello lovelies!!! This week is finals (or mid-terms, whatever you call them) week at my school, so we get to wear free dress (no dress code) to stay comfy. I finally get to wear t-shirts! With writing!!! So technically, this week is "band t-shirt week," and so far I've worn Arctic Monkeys and CHVRCHES. Today, it's Vampire Weekend.

I got this shirt at their show at the Hollywood Bowl in 2013 (I think? Wow, time goes by so fast). It's hilarious. I actually used that RIT dye remover stuff to lighten the shirt, as it was originally a deep yellow and there's no color I hate more than yellow. But I'll sacrifice the pee-colored fabric for the funniest/coolest band t-shirt.

LOMOINSTANT PHOTOS: Snow and Light Paintings

Helllllooooo lovelies! It's finals week at my school right now, so I'm super busy, but I thought I'd upload some photos that I took with my new (ish) Lomo'Instant camera. It's from Lomography and uses the Fuji Instax Mini film, but it's not like those cameras you get from Urban Outfitters; it has a bunch of settings like multiple exposure, shutter speed, etc.

The top two photos were taken of my brother twirling his sparkler that we lit on New Year's Eve. The bottom two were taken in Mammoth Lakes, where I go to ski every year. I love how spooky the one on the left is!

Just makin my camera and photos look pretty with my little succulent and some of the quartz that I bought off of Etsy (what the heck am I gonna do with it other than photograph it????).

DIY: Dr. Martens Boots to Low-Cut Shoes

Hellooooo lovelies! Recently, I did a little DIY with an old pair of Dr. Martens that I bought from the Melrose Trading Post (vintage). They were 1460s, which is the original style. A few months ago, I bought another pair of newer Dr. Martens from the Melrose Trading Post, and now I wear those instead of my old ones. I thought I'd put them to good use by cutting them down to four-holed loafers!

I unfourtunately forgot to take pictures during the actual process, but it's pretty easier to explain.

You will need:
sharp scissors
and old pair of boots
short laces
new insoles (optional!!)

Using my scissors, I cut around the boots, starting with the back and going out towards the sides. I marked the height to cut the boots using another pair of 1461 (the loafer style) Dr. Martens I own. I even re-attatched the tags that were on the top back using super glue.

You have to use the super glue to secure the back of the boot where the tag is as well as the sewed-together parts near the eyelets - otherwise, your shoes will fall apart!!

I bought these new insoles from the Dr. Martens store, as my boots were extremely old and didn't really have soles anymore. They're super comfy and fit perfectly because they're made by Dr. Martens!

Also, make sure you get a pair of laces that fits the new shoes! I had these from another pair of creeper-type shoes, but I'm sure you can buy some from Dr. Martens in-store or online.

One more note: the 1461 loafer-style Dr. Martens only have three holes, but
I chose to make mine four just incase because I didn't want to cut them too short. I may go back later and cut them shorter... not sure yet! :)

Hellooooo lovelies! Happy 2015!!! How crazy is that?

I thought I'd upload a photo of a self portrait I'm currently working on. I'm using pen... and I might add some watercolor. Any suggestions?
